The main idea of the project is to identify the user’s current location and provide an easy to use interface that allows the user to get details of the nearby places of interest like hospitals, restaurants, bus stations, banks/ATM, airports, schools, and movie theaters.

• Google maps: Map-based activities are created using Google maps as a map interface
  
• Location based services : This app uses NETWORK and GPS provider to obtain the location coordinates
  
• Google places API : This API is used to search for locations on the basis of the category of items such as airports, bus stations, banks/ATM, restaurants and much more
  
• RESTful API and JSON : The JSON format is used to transmit data between a server and web application
  

•  Select from different categories of places of interests like restaurants, hospitals, bus stations, banks/ATM, airports, schools and movie theaters. 
  

• View your current location and the nearby points of interest on maps. 
  

• The map screen displays the user’s current location with a green marker and the places of interest around the user are displayed with a red marker. 
  

• Choose between tile, list, card and map views. These views provide flexibility for the user to look at the results returned in a different form.
